Copper Fountains
Creating site specific sculpture involves a process that allows me to create something new and exciting to enhance an area of home, garden, or office. I will meet with you and custom design a water sculpture that is in concert with the architecture and landscape of your site. The patina is created through heating and the sound is always a pleasant surprise. Each fountain is one of a kind. The process can take from 6 months to a year to complete depending on its size and complexity. Generally, fountains start at $3,300.

About the Artist
"I studied sculpture at the University of Georgia where I earned a BFA in 1976. It was during a summer quarter the UGA Department of Art offered in Cortona, Italy, that I discovered the regions beautiful art and outdoor fountains and told myself one day. . . . I would create sculpture and water pieces."
Ellen Emerson Yaghjian was born in Atlanta, Georgia and grew up in Larchmont, New York. She received a BFA in sculpture from the University of Georgia and an MMA in media arts from the University of South Carolina. For ten years Ellen worked in television production first with South Carolina Educational Television and later as an Associate Producer at Turner Broadcasting. In 1990 she shifted her focus to sculpture. She began by designing commissioned based copper fountains for outdoor gardens and indoor offices across the southeast.
Over the past 30 years Ellen has created 3 large public fountains. In 2000 Ellen and her family moved from Atlanta to Columbia where Ellen began creating figurative works with copper, hammering and heating the metal to produce sculpture reflective of the human body. She enjoys the warmth of copper and the colors that emerge through her process. During the pandemic Ellen began painting in acrylics. Her studio is located in Columbia, South Carolina where she and her husband reside.
Artist Statement:
The focus of my art practice is to bring my attention to one place in time and to explore the ideas that come to mind.
Reflecting on the grace and strength of the female form, I am drawn to the medium of copper. I use heat and my hammer
to move and shape the metal into my sense of what can be expressed through the human body. Observations of life's
landscapes, color, and natural elements lead me to painting.
